Why should I choose Strings Attached to perform for my wedding?
There is nothing more beautiful and elegant as seeing and hearing live music performed. We add a unique touch that you and your guests will never forget. Our string ensembles come complete with everything you’ll need; there is no need to provide any additional equipment or sound system. Also our ensembles know how to tailor the music to fit your unique ceremony timing so there are no awkward cutoffs or waiting too long for a song to end. Everything will flow smoothly and perfectly.
When can I expect the musicians to arrive?
We will be on location 30-40 minutes prior to our time to play. At this time, we will meet with your officiator or coordinator for last minute instructions.
What do you play as the guests arrive and for how long?
We start playing approximately 15-20 minutes before the ceremony begins. We typically play a choice of light classical selections that set the perfect mood for your wedding. You may also choose selections from our complete music list.
How will the musicians dress?
Our standard attire is formal black and tux. If you’d prefer different attire, for example all black or a more casual look for an outdoor/beach wedding, we will be happy to accommodate.
What part of the ceremony do you play?
We perform Prelude music 15-20 minutes before the start of the ceremony, music during the Processional (bride, bridesmaids, seating of the parents, etc.), Recessional and 5-10 minutes of Postlude -exit music for the guests. We also will perform music during any special moments within the ceremony such as candle lighting, prayer, communion, etc. if applicable. This usually totals about an hour’s worth of time.
How do I select music – especially if I don’t know much about music?
We will be more than happy to work with you to help you choose your music program. If you are unfamiliar with the music titles, do not worry. We’ve compiled a list of the most common selections for each part of the ceremony. You can also listen to some short clips on our website of the more common selections under the link Music & Ensembles. Most brides feel this is all they need to plan the music for the entire ceremony. These are only our suggestions and you may choose any piece(s) for any part of the wedding. The Strings Attached music list includes classical, popular, romantic, jazz and Broadway selections.
There is a special piece of music I would like performed. Can you do that?
Yes. Even if it is not available in our repertoire or available for string quartet, we will be happy to write an arrangement for the quartet (a fee applies). Please allow 3 weeks before the wedding date to give us time to arrange it.
Will you perform with guest instrumentalists or singers?
Absolutely. A rehearsal with the guest is required at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony and this usually adds an additional charge. If the piece is not in our repertoire, we will need a copy of the music 3 weeks before the wedding date in order to have time to arrange it.
Do the musicians attend the dress rehearsal?
It is not necessary for us to be present at your rehearsal. Because we have performed countless weddings, we are experienced in exactly how to time the music for your unique ceremony. Only a quick conversation with your officiator or your wedding coordinator before the ceremony begins is required to have all the information we need. If you feel more comfortable having a musician present for your rehearsal, we can arrange that for an additional fee.
What do I need to provide for the musicians?
We will need a space of approximately 8’ x 10’ and an armless straight chair for each musician. And no sound system is required! If the wedding is outdoors, the musicians will need to be in a completely shaded area to protect their instruments. Strings Attached provides a white 8’x 8’ canopy free of charge for the musicians in case of an outdoor event with no shade. This in turn saves you tremendous money and hassle that other companies can’t provide you with. We have everything taken care of for you!
Will I get the same musicians I see on the website?
Although Strings Attached has a core base of musicians, ocassionally one or two of us are not available because we are engaged in concerts with the area's symphonies. We insist that all our groups consist of only the highest quality of musicians available for our clients and only use musicians that meet our highest standards.
How soon in advance should I contact you to reserve a wedding date?
As soon as you have your wedding date and location! We fill our books quickly and the sooner you can reserve your date, the more likely you can enjoy the beautiful music of Strings Attached at your wedding. We require a 50% deposit and a signed contract agreement (which we provide) to reserve your requested date and time. The remaining balance is due when we arrive at the site before the ceremony begins. We accept credit cards, money orders, and checks. Please make checks payable to Strings Attached, Inc.
Are you insured?
Yes! All Strings Attached groups are insured with full liability insurance for your peace of mind. More and more establishments are requiring this from wedding and event vendors so be sure your vendors are covered.
